Places: Gruene, Texas (by ofwanderlust)
I made this video. Not a “thoughts from places” because I was too lazy. But here are the thoughts: I love small-town America. Not saying that I would LIVE in a place like Gruene, Texas but it is kind of like a town frozen in time. They had an old ice cream shoppe, a smattering of antique stores and the oldest dance hall (featured in the video) in the nation. More than just history, it’s got a charm that appeals to people. People like to be transported to another time, especially on the weekend when you don’t want to think about your problems. Gruene, with it’s knick knacks and good food, provides that.

IN AUSTIN: i won’t go into details because i’m selfish but a few things:
-the rules about signing were strict…but i skirted by with these

-all i could say was multiple (too many) thank you’s…..honestly. it was surreal and i’m still smiling and i love everything
-this thing they’re doing—nerdfighteria and all—is great. i always knew that, but i don’t think i realized how much of an impact it’s had on so many lives until now. and those simple “thank you’s” i said to them weren’t just “thank you for signing my stuff” but also….thank you for making the vlogbrothers. thank you for caring. thank you for writing (songs/books/stories) and thank you for uniting all of these people, changing our lives and just thank you for being awesome.

i haven’t posted something in ages?
well…i’m a psychology major, everyone.
i wasn’t before—sometimes i just said i was. but i was undeclared. now i’m ACTUALLY a psych major.
i spent the past few days compiling my schedule and it is done and beautiful.
physical geology
social psychology
intro to cognitive psychology
statistics and research design (prereq for upper division psych courses)
so, three of the courses are psych courses. eek i’m scared. the last one is challenging—the adviser recommended not to do it in my first year. but you know what? i’m up for the challenge. my AP credits gave me almost all of my university/core/liberal arts requirements so I don’t have much else to do. really…i could probably graduate early. BUT INSTEAD i’m going to take my minor in English seriously and I’m going to get into the honors program.
i’m really buckling down and getting serious with school. the first semester of “figuring out” college is over. now it’s time to do what I’ve wanted to do since I turned 12.
other than that—-i start college on the 17th ! So I have a week to get stuff together. today my dad’s car got flooded from all the rain so that sucks. my mom’s in california. my sister’s still studying for her MCAT.
i’m just going to buy textbooks and stuff that i’ve been lacking in the dorm now.
even though it’ll be a lot of work, i’m excited for next semester.
i still need to figure out the summer though. and apply to things for next year (like the COLA Journal. I want to be the layout designer)
hook em???
